Scientists’ concerns about air purifiers

Sage (Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies) has concerns about air purifiers are ignored by the Government of the United Kingdom while it is already controlled in the United States – Airocide is FDA approved

Sage reacted to a great increase in sales of air purifiers due to the coronavirus pandemic and drew the UK government’s attention to the negative effects of air purifier devices. In their opinion customers need impartial guidance for air purification systems to keep them safe – states Inews in their recently published article.

While the UK government ignored this warning, the United States already applies a well-working system to inform customers about air purifiers, the FDA – Food and Drug Administration is responsible for such tasks. The US Food and Drug Administration also requires ozone output of indoor medical devices to be no more than 0.05 ppm. Our product, the Airocide is FDA approved.

The suspicion of adequacy was raised after several hospitals installed Airora air purifiers in wards including inpatient surgery, outpatient surgery, spinal injury and waiting rooms. Soon it was discovered that the devices of Airora could generate potentially dangerous levels of formaldehyde and ozone by using hydroxyl radical technology. It may lead to adverse health effects like respiratory or skin irritation.

“The Government has faced renewed pressure to tighten its guidance over air purifiers after leading scientists called for their rollout to the wider public. Sage member Professor Steve Reicher said last week that ministers should follow the example of other countries and introduce air purifiers in classrooms” – as Inews stated.

Air purifier devices are to absorb common allergens and small solid particles from air, in some cases even virus particles. Airocide combines all the advantages of HEPA filters, Ozone, UV and electrostatic technology but at the same time addresses all the problems that competing devices do not.

It annihilates airborne pathogens, getting rid of them completely. More importantly, it eliminates the contaminants that we can’t see and HEPA filters can’t extract. Most of those contaminants are aerosolized Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).

Airocide is clean, uses very little power and requires minimal maintenance. The reaction chambers need to be changed once a year in a process that takes only thirty seconds.
